How to prepare an ALTERNATIVE to fish curry



 A CURRY THAT BEATS FISH CURRY 

          In the present situation ,we are not able to go out and buy fish easily. Now a days ,the availability of fish is also very less.

So I found an alternative  for fish curry. We can easily prepare this curry. All the procedure to prepare this curry is as same as that of a fish curry.

The only difference is that,instead of fish we are adding a vegetable. It is the IVY GOURD.

Don't get feared while hearing this name. It is our "KOVAKKAI " only.



INGREDIENTS REQUIRED:::

1. KOVAKKAI OR IVY GOURD - 7 OR 8

2.COCONUT - A HAND FULL

3.TURMERIC POWDER -1/4 TSP

4.CHILLY POWDER OR KASHMIRI CHILLY POWDER - (1/2 TSP CHILLY POWDER) OR 1 TSP (KASHMIRI CHILLY)

5.GREEN CHILLY - 2

6.GINGER - A SMALL PIECE.

7.CORIANDER POWDER -1/2 TSP

8.SHALLOTS 

9.OIL

10.FENUGREEK  - 3 TO 5nos

11.CURRY LEAF

12.SALT  - REQUIRED 

13.TAMARIND - A GOOSEBERRY SIZED

Or BRINDLE BERRY ( KUDAMPULI)  - AS REQUIRED  1 OR 2 PIECES.


PREPARATION


First heat a pan add oil , FENUGREEK,ginger,chilly, shallots and saute for some time. 

Then add kovakkai (cut into four), small amount of salt and turmeric powder. Saute for some time. Add enough water and close the pan.

We can prepare the coconut paste in between the kovakkai gets cooked. 

Take a mixer jar,

Add coconut,turmeric power,  coriander powder,chilly powder. Add enough water.

Grind to a smooth paste.

We have done with coconut paste.

Check whether the kovakkai is cooked. No need to cook the kovakkai fully,Half cooked is enough.

Add the prepared coconut paste, saute well until the raw smell goes. 

After that add tamarind juice.You can add kudampuli also. And cook again for 5  minutes .The raw smell of tamarind must gone.At that time we can add enough water and adjust salt.

Close the lid for 5 to 10 minutes. Switch off the flame pour one tsp coconut oil , some curry leaves.The ALTERNATIVE for fish curry is done....
